Why is it every time....

I travel a lot. All over the country. It seems like I'm gone more then I'm
at home even. It doesn't matter where I go anymore, it's all about biking
and racing and if I don't have a chammy on, it's because I just got it off
or am about to get it back on.
So every time I have a trip it doesn't really matter how things go, where we
stayed, where we were, by the end you're kinda done with the travel and
living out of your bag and matching your teammates everywhere. And you
really wouldn't mind a day at home to relax, ride your home roads, take a
nap, cook in your own kitchen, etc. you know, coming home is nice and it's
half of what you look forward to when you go away, right?
Well, this is the case for me. So why is it that every time I return home
the city of Mountain View sees the perfect opportunity to RIP UP THE STREET
WITH GROUND SHAKING HEAVY EQUIPMENT, starting at 7:30 am? This has happened
four times now, I'm not even kidding about this. Evidently, they have
needed to redo the water main replacement on my street three times in the
past year, and now they are grinding up the street for god know what reason.
There's signs that just say "street grinding" as opposed to the "utility
work" signs they had last time. WHYWHYWHY!?!
It's also a severe misalignment of the stars that they have started work the
day after I got home from a trip. EVERY TIME. Three weeks in Georgia and
South Carolina? Let's grind Monday morning...and this time I get back on a
Tuesday night, just in time to start Wednesday morning! they must be
checking out the team schedule on KGSNcycling.com to make sure they get the
timing right.
Who knows when I'm going to get a good night's sleep, I sure don't.
