Not quite as warm as California...

i've been shivering around the Wasatch range for three days now, hitting climbs 'til the snow forces us to turn around. it's great though, all the climbs are steady and LONG, you can hit a good pace for 45-75 minutes then coast back down and hit the next canyon. i especially liked the emmigration canyon, which is the route the california trail comes through the last bit of mountains. at the base is "This is the Place" county park where we raced cyclocross last fall, and i can see how after dealling with such mountainous terrain the mormons might think Salt Lake City was a gift from God. I'm sure they were thanking Him for a respite, i was too after four such climbs in a day.
the wind has been picking up making for awesome motorpace-like sessions heading one way and brutal slogs coming back. Actually it shifts quite a bit turning your tailwind going out into a cross wind on the way back, and one day facing a bloc 25 mph headwind on a steep climb and the next a great tailwind. I guess what it all means is that the weather's getting worse and it might snow today; there were actually a few flurries coming down just as we arrived home today.
