so back a few i had heard from my friend Steve about his attempts to ride 30 days straight. this may seem like nothing to the likes of wohlberg but to us mere mortals it is truly a feat of strength, and i wanted to see just how hard it can be. i’ve decided, therefore, to ride the entire month of november, straight through. granted, there will be no 5 hour road rides and certainly no centuries, but between my mtb, cross and fixed bikes i’ll have plenty of pedals to turn.
right now i’m on day five, having started at the BISSELL group ride in Grand Rapids, MI last sunday. i’m alternating every other day on the fixie with dirt, be it ‘cross if i’m feeling frisky or MTB if i’m tired on want to have fun. i have a feeling that by thanksgiving i’ll be on the mountain bike every time, and not because it’s so dang fun.
today i went up to UCSC campus with the champ, we had a ton of fun and chatted through the woods for a few hours. i found a few new trails, which seems impossible but there you are. the champ was pounding a friend’s Nomad, which made up for a complete lack of experience and she did great. in several places i fully expected to have to wait a while, but along she chugged, just coming around the last corner. Sweet bikes, sweet single track and big smiles make for a great day.
